Friend Or Foe

Today around 8:30 P.M my brothers friend knocked on our front door and Boomer rushed to the door. He growled but he always does that so it was nothing new. I let him in and boomer continued growling but this was a different growl from our dog. He walked around my bothers friend (Raul) for several seconds maybe minutes. It was almost as if he was staring him down. I then found out that when a dog barks it's usually because he's not used to a new sense of smell or presense. So I thought it was pretty normal but I then continued reading. If a dog is growling at you and is walking around you it is intimidated by your presence, you send off a bad vibe, or the dog is being  territorial. In this case I think boomer was intimidated by my brothers friend only because my brother looses interest in boomer when his friends are over, he was being territorial over my brother. As I continued reading  further and further I read that all dogs have a different bark for every feeling they have. An example, a whine is usually when sad or in pain, a bark is when the presence of someone who is known but not good enough. A tail wagging with their tongue out is recognizing the presence and sense of someone who they already know of.

Trust Earned

Have you ever been told 'You learn something new everyday'? Well it's very true. Today I learned that when a pitbull gives you there back that means that they have trust in you. I was told by my uncle today. We were in the living room and I was sitting on the floor, Boomer came and sat next to me with his back to my face. When my uncle said "Did you know that when a dog gives you there back that means they have trust and confidence in you?" For some reason that really got me thinking because me as a human, I know that when I trust someone I open up to them. So I found it pretty fascinating to see what ways a dog communicates with humans. I decided to go on the internet and look more into it. I went on a website called "www.canidae.com" where I read "If your dog is giving you his back this is a sign of his trust that you have earned from him." Its so interesting to see the way animals try and communicate with us, to me that is so engaging. Just to know that us humans have our own way of communicating with one another. Its shocking how all the things they do is a way of trying to communicate but we don't really pay attention to any of it or seem to notice it.

i
I noticed today Boomer was kind of out of it, awfully lazy. Around 1 P.M to about 2 P.M he was outside in the backyard where I caught a picture of him yawning. As he yawned I noticed his toungue shivered as if it were cold. His ears also shake but are by his side. Later today I was trying to catch a photo of him but my flash was on. He was frightened like no other. He ran out of my room. About 20 minutes later he finally came back in. Looking into his eyes i noticed how black his eyes really are. In my last blog I spoke about his pink marks. Well, as I took another picture I happened to notice pink spots by his eyes. Bigger and pinker then the ones on his stomach.

Another night

Another night as you can see, Boomer has turned his lights off. I never really noticed how pink his stomach is. It's not even little spots here and there. His whole stomach has this really peachy pink color. His stomach kind of matches his nose too. If you look closely into his nose you notice really small moles. They call these 'Beauty marks' on a website called 'VRC Pitbull'. As I looked more into these 'beauty marks' I noticed he also has some on his stomach. Although these things are called beauty marks, they can also be genetic. Here is a picture of my dog showing off his beauty marks.
